Chanté Barnard is a recent graduate from the University of Pretoria, completing an MA in
archaeology in 2024. Her research focused on the socio-economic relations that foragers
occupying Little Muck Shelter had with surrounding communities, as well as the broader
economic role that these groups might have played across the middle Limpopo Valley.
Chanté also works as a laboratory technician at the University of Mpumalanga under the
Hunter-gatherer Archaeological Research Project (HARP). Through this project, she has had
many opportunities to nurture her passion for archaeology and understand the importance of
archaeological outreach. Because her experiences as a student have been so positive, she
hopes to create opportunities for other students.
