Outreach

Apart from the annual SDWs and ongoing social media communication and engagement, SAASC has collaborated with the Pretoria Archaeology Club for Schools (PACS) on a few wonderful community-based events. These events were developed with the objective of raising awareness about heritage and archaeology amongst young school learners and community members.

Archaeology Olympics 2019

PACS hosted an 'Archaeology Olympics' at the Ikamva Youth Centre in Mamelodi, Pretoria, Gauteng. Local high school learners partook in archaeology based group activities, which were structured loosely on activities from the Olympics. The collaboration between PACS, SAASC, PAST and Ikamva Youth led to a fun, informative and successful event!
