Role Overview:
The Events Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of all events and activities organised by the Southern African Archaeology Student Society (SAASS). This role plays a pivotal part in ensuring the successful implementation of events, workshops, and initiatives that contribute to the enrichment and engagement of SAASS members.
Key Responsibilities:

Event Planning and Logistics:

Develop event concepts, objectives, and timelines in collaboration with the Council and relevant stakeholders, ensuring alignment with SAASS's mission and objectives.

Coordinate logistical arrangements for events, including venue booking, equipment rental, catering, transportation, and accommodation as necessary.

Prepare event budgets and seek funding opportunities to support event costs, liaising with the other Council members.

Programme Development and Content Curation:

Design event programmes and agendas, incorporating diverse topics, formats, and speakers to cater to the interests and needs of SAASS members.

Collaborate with subject matter experts, guest speakers, and workshop facilitators to develop engaging and informative content for events, workshops, and seminars.

Promotion and Marketing in collaboration with the social media coordinator:

Develop comprehensive marketing and promotional strategies to raise awareness and generate interest in SAASS events among members and the broader community.

Collaborate with the social media co-ordinator to create promotional materials, including event flyers, posters, social media posts, and newsletters, to effectively communicate event details and benefits.

Participant Engagement and Experience:

Facilitate registration and participant engagement for events, workshops, and activities, ensuring smooth registration processes and providing support to attendees as needed.

Collect feedback and evaluate event outcomes to assess participant satisfaction, identify areas for improvement, and inform future event planning and decision-making.

Collaboration and Partnership Building:

Establish and maintain relationships with external partners, sponsors, and collaborators to enhance the quality and impact of SAASS events and activities.

Collaborate with other Council members, student organisations, academic institutions, and industry partners to leverage resources, expertise, and networks for event planning and delivery.

Qualifications and Skills:

Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.

Previous experience in event planning, coordination, or related roles is advantageous but not essential.
