Sandee Oster is a PhD candidate in Archaeology at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, where her research focuses on the interplay between humans and animals throughout history, with a particular emphasis on the 8.2k climatic event in South Africa. She brings extensive field experience to her work, having participated in excavations and rock art surveys across South Africa and internationally, including at Sibudu Cave with an excavation team hosted by Tübingen University. Alongside her doctoral research, Sandee contributes to public science communication as a freelance science writer for phys.org, a science blogger on Sandee Oster – Medium, and she also writes about ancient Scythians on Objet.art.
